A Sad Day

Well, ladies and gentlemen, today is a sad day. I, Tara, am no longer capable of eating McDonalds without gagging. "Your tastebuds will mature," they said. But I didn't believe them. I thought that I would continue to eat and love McDonalds into my 20s, 30s, 40s and beyond. But that wasn't the case. Today, at 12:50 pm my love for McDonalds officially died. I went shopping for supplies for Tara and Kevin do the Oregon Cost 2008 and on my walk home I decided to stop at McDonalds for a burger and fries. It was awful. I mean seriously...the cheeseburger made me gag a little. I haven't had a McDonalds burger in so long and it was no where near delicious. Not to mention the fact that a double cheese burger is cheaper than a single. Gag! What has become of me? I think I can still do Snack Wraps...if I have to...but even these have lost their zest. I am not strong enough to continue my love for McDonalds. Frankly, it makes me feel a little ill. And this makes me sad. I used to be a fast food junky. My oh my, what is happening to me? I can only eat healthy, adult, good quality food. What have I become???? *sob*

Here's to you Mr. Ronald McDonald. We will probably never meet again and I know you are as sad as I am.

On to other news...I haven't written in hear in ages. probably like four months. I finished my first year of Grad School and teaching. Hooray. I'm going to Ecuador. Yikes...but hooray. I love the group of people I'm going with, so it should be pretty fun. I'm going to miss poor Kevin while I'm in Ecuador for a whole month, but it should still be ok.
I might come home (as in Wisconsin/Illinois) in September. Hooray...hopefully.

Kevin and I are having a weekend vacation on the Oregon Coast. We're leaving tomorrow (Friday). I'm excited. We're going to go to the Aquarium and stay in an awesome and pretty hotel right on the beach. I bought some awesome champagne and massage oil today to make it extra fun and relaxing. It should be awesome. The balcony of the hotel looks right onto the ocean. Yippee! I love fun things.

Well, that's all the update that Xanga is getting today...especially since no one reads this and I really just wanted to mark the monumental death of McDonalds. Yes, my friends, McDonalds is dead to me now. Discuss...

And don't ask me why the second half of this entry is in link form...because I don't really understand it myself.

UPDATE!

I haven't written in ages, so I decided that I might as well.
I don't really have much I want to say or talk about. Could it be that I'm out-growing the "weblog" thing? Probably.
Hmmm...I haven't written AT ALL this term. I'm taking some core classes, so I'm pretty busy.
Social theory drains me. I don't care. I'm sick of reading articles that tell me that my vagina is a social construct. And to make matters worse I'm the only biological anthropologist in the class so whenever I mention evolution or primateology people say: "blah...science...I don't buy into that." You can't argue with irrationality and untestable thought...so I must hold my tongue.
Biocore is busy too. Blah to that. But it's all fun.
I want to go shopping. Kate and I might do that this weekend. It's a way to vent. We may also have a Scene it party to celebrate the return of Kevin's Xbox 360.
Super Smash Brothers Brawl = awesomeness.
Going to Vegas in a week from tomorrow and Ohio in a couple weeks after that.
Ohio is farther away from here than home, but I don't get to go home. I get to go to Ohio.
GTFing the Evolution of Human Sexuality class was fun. I taught my last classes for it today.
I've been emo lately, so that's no good.
I want a puppy or kitten
Kevin has been awesome. He keeps me sane and he's the best boyfriend in the whole wide world. I don't know where I'd be without that kid. We have so much fun together too. It's great. I'm glad he came to Oregon with me.
I got a grant in two days ago for my work in Ecuador this summer. Say prayers. 3000 dollars for travel and living expenses would make Tara a happy girl.

Ok...enough rambling
Done and done.

Xanga 2007: A Year in Review

It is, once again, time to give a recap of Xanga 2007. Here are the first few lines of the first entry of each month in 2007. ENJOY!

January: Happy New Year! I'm still in Montana. Going to Vegas tomorrow! Yay!

February: Sleepy. Going to bed soon. mmmmm....bed. Kevin's birthday was yesterday. I brought him dinner and gave him his presents.

March: Happy March everyone! But let me ask you...WHEN IS ALL THIS EFFING SNOW GOING TO GO AWAY? I mean seriously.

April: Hahaha! NO, SERIOUSLY! Hahaha! I had a great weekend. Very busy. I went to Philadelphia for an Anthropology conference.

May: Well holy shit, finals week is upon us. I only have two papers to do. One is due tuesday and one is due wednesday.

June: I'm here! I'm alive! I've been super busy. A couple weekends ago was my dad's birthday. We had a cook out.

July: It's this little guys birthday today:

August: I'm in Eugene, Oregon now. Yep. I live here. I don't live at home or any where near it. I live in Oregon. I have completed my journey along to Oregon Trail.

September: I love this quote. It pretty much sums me up: "I'm the type who'd be happy not going anywhere as long as I was sure I knew exactly what was happening at the places I wasn't going to. I'm the type who'd like to sit home and watch every party that I'm invited to on a monitor in my bedroom." -Andy Warhol

October: Graduate School = busy-ness. Classes are good. Teaching is good. Oregon in general is good. Busy busy busy.

November: *no entries for November* How sad!

December: So it's been two months since I last wrote. I'm a xanga slacker.

There you go everyone. My xanga year in review. It was a good year. Busy. Full of a whole lot of new things. Probably the year in my life that has seen the most change. I live in a new place. I actually get paid to do things. I’m still a student, but I feel like I’ve grown quite a bit. I mean I get paid to be a student and teach. I’m sort of becoming more adult. It’s tough to be an adult. I still cry about almost every little obstacle, but I’m getting better about taking initiative and responsibility. It’s nice. So, all in all, 2007 has been an interesting year.

I might write again before January, but I’m going to be in Billings until the 29th, so I just wanted to make sure to get this year in review done before I left.

Happy Holidays everyone!

Thursday, December 20, 2007

So it's been two months since I last wrote. I'm a xanga slacker.

I'm on winter break. My first term as a graduate student is over. only 2 more terms til summer! Yay! Classes went amazingly. So glad to be done with one of my stats requirements. Also glad to be done with musculoskeletal anatomy. It was possibly one of the most beneficial classes I have ever taken. Teaching was a great experience too. I think I did pretty well. Intro to Biological anthropology was the best class I could have taught. My students were good. It was a good all around experience. This term I'm GTFing for Human Sexuality, so that should be fun.

A lot has been going on since the last time I wrote. Hangin' out with people here in Oregon and what not. Kevin is great. He's really nice and perfect and great. He just bought ram for my computer so it runs swimmingly now. Hooray!

I came home to Illinois for a week last week. It was fun. Hung out with the Muellers, my dad and Sandy, my Grandma, Gerry and Karissa, and eventually Abby. I saw Gloria and a few others really briefly too. I went to Chicago on the Saturday before I left with Lindsay and Abby and we saw Altar Boyz! It was awesome. Good job Lindsay! I saw Kevin Taylor at the Station too! That was fun. I saw lots of old Winthrop Harbor/Zionites there. Fun times!

I miss everyone from home, but it is SO GREAT to be away from the snow and freezing cold again. I've been busy since I got back. On monday I did like a billion loads of laundry and then at night we went to Turtle's with Kate and Nick for Kate's b-day. Yesterday Kate came over and we watched Dr. Phil and Oprah. Then today I went to Kevin's work to have lunch with him and then spent the rest of the day at the mall to do Christmas shopping. I saw the Golden Compass today too. I thought the movie was awesome. I'm not quite done with the book yet, but I liked it a lot.

We're going to Billings on Sunday for Christmas. Yay! It'll be fun to see Kevin's family and friends for a few days.

Oh yeah! I baked fudge! Be proud of me!
